My First Italian Painting

I was so awed by the beauty of Florence, that I wanted to capture its colors and textures in a painting.  Now, keep in mind, I'm not an artist.  But, I do love to paint and find it very relaxing - perhaps in my time here I'll absorb some of the artistic beauty of Italian life.  And since the sunny days are long in this part of the world, I have plenty of hours to study the incredible light.

For my first attempt at a large-scale painting, I tried to do justice to the Palazzo Medici-Riccardi's courtyard, which I want to remember forever. There is still work to be done on the scene I've created here.  It's not literal - merely an interpretation.  My next painting is of an Italian country home.
